Neo-Conservatism Is A Clear and Present Danger To The United States of America

Quoting John McGowan a humanities professor at Chapel HIll:

"Frank neoconservatives like Robert Kaplan and Niall Ferguson recognize that they are proposing imperialism as the alternative to liberal internationalism. Yet both Kaplan and Ferguson also understand that imperialism runs so counter to American's liberal tradition that it must... remain a foreign policy that dare not speak its name... While Furgeson, the Brit, laments that Americans cannot just openly shoulder the white man's burden, Kaplan the American, tells us that "only through stealth and anxious foresight" can the United States continue to pursue the "imperial reality [that] already dominates our foreign policy," but must be disavowed in light of "our anti-imperial traditions, and... the fact that imperialism is delegitimized in public discourse"... The Bush administration, justifying all of its actions by an appeal to "national security," has kept as many of those actions as it can secret and has scorned all limitations to executive power by other branches of government or international law."

Neo-conservatism is a direct threat to our constitutional form of government. I have said that before, but I just found this quote and thought it pertinent. Especially in light of Bush's blatant violations of the constitution in seeking to avoid the 4th amendment warrant requirement in the United States constitution to spy on american citizens.

Why is this important? Because myself and others believe that neo-cons are in fact a clear and present danger to this country. More than a subversive element, and very close to a group that is threatening a clandestine overthrow of the United States by seeking to ignore the mandates of the constitution and wholly abandon democratic principles and the non-imperialist foundation that this country was built upon and has been our home grown tradition since inception. I am not calling for a thought police or sedition prosecutions, that would of course be un-american.

Neo-Conservatives have actually taken overt clandestine action intentionally employed to deceive the American public. Intentional violation of the United States constitution by executive officials coupled with intentional distortion and misrepresentation of its activities to the american public not only violates the constitution these officials have sworn to protect but it violated our republican form of government. This is rightly classified as an attempt to overthrow our government and any executive official who intentionally took part in these activities is a traitor. Why is this important?

Because it will allow us to list neo-conservatives on terrorist watch lists and prosecute key figures for treason based on an attempt to overthrow our constitutional and republican form of government.

As an american citizen I demand that following the next presidential election the United States House of Representatives and Senate open investigations into key neo-conservative figures in the Bush Administration including but not limited to:

1. Paul Wolfowitz
2. Donald Rumsfeld
3. Dick Cheney
4. George W. Bush
5. George H.W Bush

The Wire

Have you seen it? It might be the best television show ever. An epic picture of life in the urban street of the United States circa 2000. Wonderful writing by people who know how to write. The show was created by a former police officer and a former journalist for the Baltimore Sun. People have described it as dickensian but I think it deserves its own unique label.

The Wire is about Baltimore. An in depth look, from many different angles at how politics, the police, the street, drugs and the media co-exist.

Season 1

The first season introduces you to the world of Avon Barksdale the king of the Baltimore drug trade. The story follows as a major crimes unit in the city police begins using wire-taps to target Avon's empire.

Season 2

Season two takes the wire in a different direction following the breakup of the Barkdale unit in the city police. The focus is on the Baltimore port and the temptation of drugs to a group of local stevedores.

Season 3

Politics. The rise of a young city councilman who is trying to become mayor.

Season 4

The rise of a new drug kingpin. Marlo Stanfield

Season 5

The press.

Season 5 is the final season and we are approaching the final episodes.

Bill Frist and Satan Are Gay Lovers?

Great blog post I saw today.

Good info on a bad law.

Political Manifesto

Issues that matter to me.

1. The war in Iraq.

I believe it was an unjust war and I always have. Our real enemy for the last 35 years has been Iran. If you want to stop global terrorism, you start with Iran. I do not advocate going to war with Iran, however, it is Iran and not Iraq that we should have been worried about. The Iraq war has only made Iran stronger.

I advocate full withdrawal from Iraq. Of the remaining candidates for president (obama, clinton and Mcain) I support Obama's view on this issue.

2. Health Care

I believe that health care in this country is fundamentally broken. It is controlled by greedy insurance companies who profit on suffering. The sickest americans cannot get healthcare even if they are rich and willing to pay for it. I advocate the federal government stepping in and taking over health care. Yes, that means more taxes. I am tremendously opposed to insurance companies in general, this will become apparent throughout my writings. I don't want to shut them down unless they deserve it, but their quest for greed routinely deprives american citizens of their livelihood. The answer I believe is through increased litigation targeting wrongdoing.

I support Hillary Clinton's stance on health care. A mandatory government takeover providing universal coverage is the best solution.

3. Cuba

I traveled to Cuba before President Bush banned the practice entirely. I went legally for educational purposes. Our Cuba policy is a complete disaster. 50 years of failure. We need to normalize relations with Cuba. The red scare is over.

I support Obama's position on Cuba.

4. Foreign Policy

We need to speak with our enemies. Just because President Bush was too incompetent to sit down with other leaders doesn't make it ok to antagonize the people we need to understand the most. We must engage in more intelligent diplomacy and that means the President himself must be more involved. Our image in the world is greatly tarnished.

I support Obama's position on foreign affairs.

5. Civil Rights

American is a country built on freedom. We are an idealistic country that promotes change by leading. We are the light. Liberty and freedom from government intrusion is so fundamental to this country that it saddens me greatly to see the apathy that most americans now have to the future of their own freedoms. Police brutality, racial profiling, wire-taps, tort reform and many more trends are doing irreparable harm to our own collective psyche.

I support Obama's position on civil rights.

6. Taxes

I believe the middle class is the backbone of america. If the middle class prospers, america will prosper. I am strongly opposed to the Bush tax cuts which primarily benefit the wealthiest americans. The middle class needs the breaks, not the rich.

Many americans are confused on tax policy. The best way I can explain it is with a hypothetical. For example, if a uniform flat tax is imposed on all americans which taxes 20% of their income then it unfairly burdens the middle class. Why? Because a 20% income tax on a family making 60k a year hurts much more than a 20% tax on the income of a man making 2 million dollars a year.

Both democratic candidates understand this I believe. John Edwards was the best though.

I voted for Barack Obama in the California primaries (which he lost) and I will do so again in the general election.

Online Poker and Rake Back

One of the unspoken secrets of online poker is the "rake back". Basically, very few online players know that they have an opportunity to get a percentage of their rake back from the poker sites they play on.

I found out the hard way and only recently. I have played online for 3 years and just recently discovered that I have been missing out on about $100 a month given my level of play. Go figure.

Of the major poker sites that allow U.S players (Fuck the UIEGA and Senator Bill Frist) only FullTilt allows rake back. Pokerstars does not. Other smaller sites like Cake Poker also allow rake back.

Long story short, you need to sign up with an affiliate site to start getting your rake back. I am getting 27% back through the following site. Very satisfied, which is why I have stuck their banner on this blog. Win/Win for poker players.

Some more info:

Online poker rooms make their money by automatically taking a cut of the players stake money, this is called the "rake". Typically the rake is 5% of every pot, you will often see it being taken and stacked at the top of the table during a game. Playing a few hundred hands a month soon accumulates a large amount of rake, and you could be paying tens of thousands of $$$ a year in rake. Get up to 60% of your rake money back with raketherake.com.

Ribbon Cutting

Boom!

Into the amorphous ether I present to the world my first blog. Stay tuned.
